Infrequently Asked Questions
So you want to know about me, eh? Well, you've come to the right place. Because you'll probably not find out this stuff from any other site.
Anyway. So, yeah. I'm Xbolt. And this page is about me. And stuff.
The name? I actually "borrowed" the name Xbolt from my dad, who used that moniker in the Olden Days when he played in pinball arcades. In turn, he got it from the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, where he saw a sign on the ship's door saying "Caution: explosive bolts." An explosive bolt, also called a pyrotechnic fastener, is a nut or bolt that contains an explosive charge. It can be activated remotely by an electric current, breaking the bolt into two or more pieces. These are often used in space applications, such as separating rocket stages, because they are more reliable than mechanical latches. And more cool.
